AMD FX-8150 was the best performing desktop microprocessor from the first generation of FX Series. Not only this model had 8 CPU cores, which was new for consumer x86 market, but it also featured very high operating frequency, with a Turbo Core speed exceeding the "magic" 4 GHz threshold. First information on this part was published in May 2011. In September, additional details on this and other FX processors were discovered in a CPU support list on the Gigabyte website. The official price of this CPU leaked at the end of September, and the FX-8150 was launched on October 12, together with AMD FX-4100, FX-6100 and FX-8120 SKUs. At the launch time, the CPU was priced at $245, while the former flagship Phenom II X6 1100T part was $40 less expensive.
