Descriere: The Illustrated History of Romanian Diplomacy. 1862-1947 offers a panorama of Romanian diplomacy from the creation of the modern Romanian state – when the Principalities of Moldavia and Wallachia united in 1859 – to the time when Romania was integrated in the Soviet hegemony sphere, at the beginning of the Cold War (1947).

The volume is divided into three chapters. The first, an “Overview”, is a general presentation of the Romanian diplomacy, with emphasis on the major moments marking a whole century (1848-1947), in the general European context.

The second chapter deals with Romanian diplomacy during the Old Kingdom (1878-1914), presenting the evolution of Romanian diplomacy after the winning of independence (1877-1878), when Romania began manifesting in the international arena as a self-reliant actor, up to the start of World War I (1914).

The last chapter, “Romanian Diplomacy between 1917 and 1947”, presents the efforts of the Romanian diplomacy from the beginning of World War I until the moment Romania definitively fell under the influence of the Soviet Union (1947).

The authors illustrated the text with a large number of pictures showing events and personalities and rendering the climate of the epoch. Based on extensive documentation, the book is both a reference work for specialists and pleasant reading for anyone.
