Personnel includes: Eric Clapton (vocals, guitar); Jimmy Page, The Yardbirds, John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers.This is an interesting collection of Clapton's early to mid-'60s work from a variety of sources, although be warned that everything here has previously appeared on countless other compilations (including bootlegs). The tracks with Jimmy Page are loose, atmospheric studio blues jams like "Draggin' My Tail" (with uncredited contributions by other famous Brits such as long-time Rolling Stones pianist Ian Stewart), while some tracks feature the two guitarists sans band.The rest--save for an excellent track with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers (which sounds like it was recorded before their famous debut album) are early tracks done with the Yardbirds. The best of those is a cover of Bo Diddley's "You Can't Judge a Book (By Looking at the Cover)," on which Clapton uses the percussive style later adapted by Jeff Beck on the group's more famous version of "I'm a Man."
