God Is for Us

4,God Is For Us by C. Baxter Kruger, Ph.D., is a deeply moving theological work that reads like both a hymn and a manifesto-a bold proclamation of the gospel's radical message of inclusion, adoption, and the finished work of Jesus Christ. Through accessible yet rich biblical exposition, Kruger reorients our understanding of salvation and the character of God, inviting readers to see afresh the beauty of the Father's eternal purpose. At the heart of Kruger's message is the eternal gospel revealed in the first chapter of Ephesians: that before the foundation of the world, God the Father determined not merely to create us but to adopt us-to bring us into His very life and fellowship through Jesus Christ. This is not a distant theological idea but the very reason for creation: that humanity would be tailor-made for deep, personal communion with God.Kruger emphasizes that our inclusion in Christ is not a divine afterthought or Plan B following humanity's failure, but the original intention of the Father from all eternity. Jesus Christ is not merely the means of salvation but the One in whom all things were created and are fulfilled. The gospel is not about us finding our way to God, but about God's relentless, joyful pursuit of us-fulfilled fully and finally in Christ. The book powerfully reframes doctrines such as election, atonement, and adoption in the context of God's unwavering love and faithfulness. Kruger critiques narrow and distorted theological views that paint God as divided-loving on one hand, but wrathful and punitive on the other. Instead, he presents a God who is consistent in His love, whose justice is defined not by legal retribution but by faithful commitment to His eternal purpose of communion with humanity.Drawing on the insights of theologians like James B. Torrance and Athanasius, and writing in a voice reminiscent of C.S. Lewis's spiritual clarity, Kruger challenges common religious assumptions. He exposes the spiritual lethargy created by legalistic and fear-based Christianity and invites the reader to discover the liberating power of the real gospel-the finished work of Jesus Christ that restores us to life in the Father's embrace. Each chapter builds with theological depth and pastoral warmth. Kruger speaks directly to the human soul, encouraging readers to stop striving, to listen, and to believe the Father's resounding word through Jesus: Thou art Mine! This is not just a theological book-it's a call to transformation. It's for those weary of religious striving and performance, for those who long for authentic assurance, and for anyone ready to hear the staggering truth of their identity in Christ. God Is For Us will ignite hearts with its compelling vision of grace and inspire readers to live in the freedom, joy, and fullness of adoption.
