The appearance size of 4.4 x 2.4 x 1mm makes the VL53L0 the smallest ToF (Time-of-Flight) module in the world, and the first integrated 940nm VCSEL light source, SPAD photon detector and advanced microcontroller (to manage the entire Ranging function) smart ranging sensor. VL53L0 can complete all measurement operations in one frame, usually less than 30ms, and the distance is less than 2 meters. To further strengthen its leading position in the time-of-flight sensor (ToF) market, ST introduced the second-generation FlightSense™ technology and used it on the new VL53L0X laser range sensor.

 

The VL53L0X extends the ToF ranging length to two meters, and the accuracy is within ±300. The measurement speed is faster than the previous generation product, and the ranging time is less than 30ms; higher energy efficiency, the power consumption is only 20mW in normal working mode, and the standby power consumption is only 5μA. The package size is 2.4mm x 4.4mm x 1mm, which is small and medium among similar products on the market.

 

Different from traditional infrared proximity sensors, the VL53L0X outputs distance measurement results accurate to millimeters. The color and reflected light of the target object will not affect the distance measurement results.
