The core objective of The Real Junk Food Project is a simple one: To intercept food waste destined for landfill and use it to feed people who need it, with healthy and satisfying meals, on a 'pay as you feel' basis. Hence the motto 'feed bellies, not bins'.Each chapter features a common vegetable, offering a series of mainly plant-based recipes, accessible, healthy and delicious. Written in a conversational style, you'll get to know Daniel and Gaëlle as they share anecdotes rescuing memories from their lives triggered by the food they're cooking. But they have also traced the roots/routes of many of the recipes rescuing their history in order to provide a context for the food they're making. The book invites the reader to take some time out to reflect on how we cook, what we eat, where we shop.
