A failed professional footballer with Brentford, Rod Stewart began his singing career with folk singer Wizz Jones busking around Europe (he was deported from Spain for vagrancy!). Upon returning to the UK he linked up with The Five Dimensions and later the Hoochie Coochie Men, which subsequently evolved into Steampacket. This grounding has enabled Rod to develop a distinctive style for his own solo career, a style that mixes folk, rock, country, soul and blues in almost equal measure and has enabled him to enjoy almost 35 years of success around the globe. This album features many fine examples of Rod?s diverse influences, from the Motown tracks 'Can I Get A Witness' and 'Baby Take Me' to the blues influenced 'Keep Your Hands Off Her' and 'Mopper?s Blues'. It?s a potent mix.
