The Workforce Development Professional

4,While THE WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROFESSIONAL is relevant reading for any professional, it will be useful and appealing to a growing niche market that includes established and aspiring professionals employed in government, education, economic development, non-profit organizations, for profit corporations, and especially workforce development. It includes creative strategies for achieving excellence in workforce development programs, motivational guidance and historic references for individuals for whom current academic resources might be limited.Workforce development professionals working in positions ranging from the entry level to the pinnacle of management will enjoy the perspective of an author who captures both a bird's eye view and a ground level understanding of how to succeed in this sometimes misunderstood, often unnoticed, but always noble and challenging profession. The author engages readers and makes the complex simple, with interesting examples and lively conversation. There are over 600 state and local workforce development boards that each oversee at least one, and in some cases, multiple one-stop career centers around the U.S. Each of these career centers provide businesses and job seekers with access to programs operated under multiple federal funding streams. Leaders, middle managers and staff of the organizations that form these systems are hungry for real-life insight to help them to navigate complex government regulations, react to emerging technology and evolve with cultural changes, while simultaneously conceiving of and realizing creative visions of the next generation of excellence. This book feeds this hunger with expertise, humor and inspiration.
